- is a private, non-profit public benefit 501(c)(3) Corporation, organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law exclusively for charitable purposes - all donations to the BEF are tax-deductible
- is an all-inclusive, all volunteer organization, dedicated to charitable and educational purposes - there are no paid staff positions
- Board of Directors manages the corporation's activities and affairs, subject to the provisions and limitation of Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law and the I.R.S. Directors are elected for two-year terms by a plurality of BEF members
- serves the Benicia community as the only education foundation dedicated to support all children all seven public schools K-12
- holds itself fully accountable and available to the community with all board meetings open to the public
- partners with the school district, every public school and all Parent Teacher Organizations in Benicia to help Benicia's students receive core academic programs, services and critical enrichment opportunities that are no longer included in California's education budget
