The Giving Campaign

"...[BEF] efforts have prevented us from making
additional reductions to the programs we offer
children. Their contributions over the past several
years have made a significant impact on BUSD...
By supporting the Benicia Education Foundation
in its fundraising efforts, you can impact the education
of all of Benicia's children. We need the support of
parents like you to help preserve vital programs that
our students need and deserve.”
- Superintendent Janice Adams

Dear BUSD Parent,

The Benicia Unified School District is facing a 2.4 million dollar shortfall over the next two years because of the continuing budget cuts in Sacramento. This year, the Benicia Education Foundation’s goal is to raise $200,000 — and we hope that over half will come from parent donors like you.

Without these funds, our school libraries and computer labs would only be open sporadically. Reading and computer skills are among the most important skills our students need for the future.
Please help us reach our goal!

  • Fill out the Print-and-Mail Donation Form and return by mail  — OR —
  • Stop by the BEF table during the Back to School Registration Fairsand either make a donation right then, or pledge to make a donation later in the fall — OR —
  • Donate with PayPal online where you can choose to make one contribution or twelve monthly installments

We recommend an annual tax-deductible contribution of $360 per student (that’s less than $1.00 a day!), or $540 per family. If you are not able to pay the suggested amount, please still consider giving what you can. Imagine this — if every parent contributed just $10 a month, the BEF would be able to fund many more programs and services in our schools. The more money the BEF can raise, the greater the funding for our schools, the greater the education will be for your children.

Thank you for donating to the BEF! Because of your generous donations throughout last year, the Benicia Education Foundation helped ease some of the school district’s economic pain by keeping the libraries and computer labs open full time in all our schools. Please join this year’s effort to keep these essential facilities open, plus fund Early Bird classes at BHS. Also, look for our new BEF light bulb thermometer signs around town. Parents like you power them! Watch the “mercury rise” as together we achieve this year’s fundraising goal.

Thank you,
From all of us on the BEF Board of Directors
